History

The ancient name of the city was Caldus, and it took the name of Caldis in the 7th century before it was called Caïeu in the 14th century. The city took the name of Cayeux-sur-Mer after a decision of the town council on the 6th of December 1868.

The mayor’s message

Cayeux-sur-Mer plank way, Baie de Somme

Welcome everyone to Cayeux-sur-Mer
Own town is one of the oldest seaside resorts in France. Created around 1850 at the time when sea bathing was in fashion, it was then designated as a health resort in 1928. The mark of these old times is still visible in town.
Cayeux-sur-Mer stretches over 14 km along the coastline and faces the sea.
