The Sailors’ Chapel of Le Hourdel

The Sailors’s Chapel of Le Hourdel was built in an old building which was used as a shed for the nets of the fishermen of Le Hourdel. This shed was given by Mr. Coiret-Chevalier and Father Parvilliers got it turned into a Chapel.

At the beginning of the 20th century, you would go there mainly on the day following the first communion. As all the other houses in Le Hourdel, the Sailors’ Chapel was destroyed during the Second World War. A new Chapel was built based on Mrs Tournon’s plans. That new chapel is dedicated to Saint Mary, queen of the world, and inaugurated by your Lordship Stoum, Bishop of Amiens, on August 28th, 1960.
