The old church
— Local materials such as bricks and pebbles —
This Church was probably built in the 13th century, initially near the cemetery. The Anglo-Norman architect had used “local” materials such as bricks and pebbles.
The characteristic of this construction lies in the fact that the pebbles were cut in such a way that a draught board appears on the walls.
The old Church was dedicated to Saint Joseph but also to the virgin and to Saint Blaise, the Patron Saint of the inhabitants of Cayeux who is celebrated each year on the first weekend of February. Nowadays, there only remains the lower base of the church walls which are the surrounding walls of the cemetery, as the Church was partly destroyed at the beginning of the 20th century.
